Two houses collapsed due to cylinder blast, nine people injured

New Delhi (IANS) | Nine people, including four children, were injured when two houses collapsed due to a cylinder blast in outer Delhi’s Kunwar Singh Nagar area in the early hours of Monday. The official said Tushar has been referred to a higher center for plastic surgery opinion, while Simar, who suffered 40 per cent burns, has also been referred to a higher center and Anna has been admitted to the ICU at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

According to Delhi Fire Service (DFS) director Atul Garg, the incident occurred at around 5:15 am allegedly due to an LPG cylinder blast.

Atul Garg said, the building located in Block-D1 of the area collapsed due to the impact of the blast. As a result, nine people who were inside the house at the time of the incident sustained injuries.

DFS personnel who reached the spot with the help of public and PCR started the rescue operation. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the official said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer Delhi, Harendra Singh said that on receiving information about the collapse of two houses in Kunwar Singh Nagar Gali No. 10, D-1 Block, Nangloi area, the Assistant Commissioner of Police and Station House Officer reached the spot along with the police team.

A total of seven people were injured in a two-storey old building in one house, while two people were injured in a single-storey building in another house, the DCP said. All the nine injured were pulled out from the debris with the help of local people and fire service and admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri.

The DCP said that crime team and FSL team were also called and medico-legal cases of all the injured were taken from the hospital.

During interrogation, it was learned that the buildings collapsed due to the explosion of a gas cylinder, the official said. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Punjabi Bagh have also been informed about the incident. Further investigation is underway.
