Two people arrested for selling illegal gutkha in Puri

Puri: Kumbharapada and Basalisahi police in Puri arrested two people on Thursday and seized banned gutkha and pan masala products worth lakhs of rupees during a raid.
The accused were identified as R. Loknath Reddy and Ramchandra Malu (61). The raid was carried out under “Operation Chakra,” a city-wide crackdown on crime and criminal activities under the direction of the Puri Superintendent of Police. Teams from different police stations conducted raids at several locations.
Similar raids were also conducted at several retail and wholesale gutkha outlets in different police station areas across Puri city, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of banned products.
City DSP Rashmi Ranjan Mahapatra informed the media about the raid at a press conference. Kumbharapada IIC Bijayketan Behera and Basalisahi IIC Avinash Raut were present.
