Two people died after an ambulance carrying a body fell into a river in Churachandpur, Manipur

Imphal: A vehicle belonging to the Young Mizo Association (YMA) veered off a steep road and fell into a river in Teejangkot village in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, killing the driver and the helper on the spot, officials said on Thursday.
The vehicle belonging to the Young Mizo Association was carrying a body from Moreh town to Churachandpur district headquarters when the tragic accident occurred on Wednesday morning. The driver, identified as Lamlsang, and the helper, Jimmy Nengsuanpou, died after the vehicles plunged into the Guin River. It is believed that the driver missed the crossing point due to heavy fog.
Following the incident, local villagers spotted the submerged vehicles and pulled out both the bodies and the vehicle from the water.
The bodies were later sent to the district hospital mortuary for postmortem. Police said a case has been registered at the concerned police station.
