Typhoon Khanun cancels 450 flights in South Korea
Soul (IANS). Nearly 450 flights were canceled in South Korea on Thursday due to powerful typhoon Khanun, which hit the country’s southern coast in the morning.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), after landfall at 9.20 a.m., Khanun is now on its way to cross the entire peninsula with heavy rain and strong winds during the day.
According to airport officials, 452 of the 2,138 flights planned for the day were suspended as of 8.30 a.m., Yonhap news agency reported.
Incheon International Airport, 27 km west of Seoul, reported the cancellation or postponement of 145 flights out of 1,048 scheduled.
At 14 other regional airports, there were 307 flights out of 1,090 scheduled flights, according to Korea Airports Corporation, which operates the airports.
According to airport officials, the number of affected operations is predicted to increase as the storm progresses.
