Uday said this regarding ‘Sanatan Dharma’ statement

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is in the news for his controversial ‘Sanatana Dharma’ statement, said that he will not back down from his statement and his statement is in line with the advocacy of BR Ambedkar and Periyar.

Udhayanidhi Stalin said in a press conference, “I stand by my statement on Sanatan Dharma. I will not back down from my statement. I will face it legally. I have not said more than what Ambedkar and Periyar have said. ” Madras High Court judge Justice G Jayachandran’s comments on the matter.

Udhayanidhi said that party posts or government positions do not matter much to him and it is important to be a “human being” first and foremost. “Today there will be the post of minister, MLA and youth wing secretary and tomorrow it will not be there. Above everything else, we have to be human beings first,” he said. The Tamil Nadu minister, who is also the son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, said he has been speaking on the Sanatan issue for centuries.

Udhayanidhi said, “The Sanatan issue is a very long one and we have been speaking about it for centuries. We will oppose it in any era.” The Tamil Nadu minister’s comments came after Madras High Court Justice G Jayachandran cautioned people in power from making such comments.

The Justice said, “This Court is of the view that a person in power must realize the danger of divisive nature of speech and behave responsibly and restrain himself from propagating views that are discriminatory on the basis of ideology, caste and religion.” Will divide people on name.” He said, “Instead, they can focus on eliminating intoxicating drinks and drugs which are harmful to health, corruption, untouchability and other social evils.”

The justice also said that the inaction by the police against the organizers of the meeting at which the “Sanatan Dharma” speech was given amounted to “negligence of duty” by the police.

Justice Jayachandran said, “Some members of the ruling party and ministers attended the meeting organized to abolish “Sanatana Dharma” and the police did not take any action against them, which amounts to dereliction of duty on the part of the police.” Justice Jayachandran further said that the public is fed up with how some people who take the oath of office “violate their oath”.

“Since the police failed to take action against those giving inflammatory speeches to eliminate ‘Sanatan Dharma’, permission is now being sought to counter it by organizing a meeting to eliminate “Dravidian ideology”.

If the request of the petitioner is accepted, it will lead to further disturbance of the peace and tranquility of the public, who are already fed up with some fringe groups supporting those who have sworn to uphold the post of Have taken. Justice G Jayachandran said it was a violation of the spirit of the Constitution and his oath.

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comment that Sanatan Dharma should not be opposed but should be destroyed created a major political storm in the country and some allies of the DMK government decided not to wade into the controversy. However, Udhayanidhi remained adamant on his point and repeatedly refused to back down from his statement.
