Udupi: Man loses Rs 5.9 lacs to online ‘task completion’ scam

Udupi: A man was conned out of Rs 5.9 lacs in an online scam where he was promised 30 to 40% more money for completing tasks by clicking on a link sent through Telegram app.

The victim and complainant, Gopala (29), resident of Badagubettu, was taken for a ride by an unknown fraudster.

In his complaint filed with the CEN police, the victim alleged that the fraudster had transferred Rs 5.90 lacs to various accounts through NEFT from April 25 to 27.
