Ulundurpet accident: Three killed, three injured

Tamil Nadu: Three members of a family were killed and three others seriously injured in a horrific road accident near the Ulundurpet area of ​​Kallakurichi district on Sunday morning. The tragic incident occurred when the family was returning to Ramanathapuram from Chennai Airport. The accident has sent shockwaves through the area.

According to reports, the family members were returning home to Ramanathapuram after dropping off Hemalatha’s son Harish at the Chennai International Airport. A total of six people were in the car: Sakthi (A) Sridharan (21), S. Vetrivel (25), Tharanivel’s wife Sujatha (51), Anandan’s wife Hemalatha (53), Sridharani (21) from the Madurai Jailer’s Quarters, and Rani (73) from the Mandapam Camp area. All of them are said to be from the same family and were returning from a family trip.

The vehicle was being driven by Sakthi (A) Sreedharan. It is reported that as the car reached the national highway near Ulundurpet, the driver suddenly lost control. The car was speeding and collided with a highway barrier in the middle of the road. The impact was so severe that the front of the car was severely damaged and the vehicle was reduced to rubble.

Immediately after the accident, there was chaos at the scene. People from nearby areas rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. Locals informed the police and ambulance, after which efforts were made to extricate the injured from the car. All six people trapped in the wreckage were found seriously injured. Hemalatha, Sridharani, and Rani were admitted to the Kallakurichi District Government Hospital with serious injuries and are undergoing treatment. Doctors have described their condition as critical and they are being monitored closely.
