Undertrial Prisoner Escapes from SCB Medical in Cuttack
Cuttack: An undertrial prisoner reportedly escaped from the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Thursday. The prisoner escaped from the hospital wearing a saree on the pretext of using the washroom.
The undertrial prisoner has been identified as Sajan Das of Nahidipada village under Naugoan police limits of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district. The accused was undertrial in connection to a theft case.
According to sources, on Thursday, Sajan went to use the washroom in the hospital at around 12 noon and 1 pm. He reportedly wore a saree in the bathroom and escaped from the hospital.
Sajan Das was admitted to the SCB hospital on May 26. He was being treated in the medicine ward.
Following the incident, Choudwar police filed a written complaint at the Mangalabagh police station today. A case under section 224 of the IPC has been registered.
Police raided some places in Jagatsinghpur and Nyali today. A special team has been formed to nab the escaped prisoner. Further investigation is underway.
