New Delhi (ANI): Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will go on a two-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh today. During his two-day visit, he will interact with security personnel deployed in Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. “I am looking forward to celebrating Dussehra with the soldiers in Tawang,” he said.
Earlier this year, the Union Minister had visited Tawang sector to review security preparedness in the sector. Tawang sector is a disputed area as the Chinese Army has attempted to attack this sector several times. In December last year, People’s Liberation Army troops violated the LAC in Tawang sector, the violation was responded to strongly and strongly by Indian troops. Some personnel from both sides suffered minor injuries in this clash.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had informed Parliament that the Chinese Army had attempted to “transcend” the Line of Actual Control and “unilaterally change the status quo” in the Yangtze area of Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh last week, but Indian troops repelled the incident. The attempt was aborted, resulting in “a physical scuffle resulting in injuries to some personnel from both sides.”
