Used to sell illegal liquor by filling it in water pouches, Excise department raided
Janjgir-Champa. On Saturday, the Excise Department took swift action against illegal liquor manufacturing and storage. More than 200 liters of liquor has been seized from two locations. Excise has sent two accused including Mahil to jail. Illegal liquor trade is not showing signs of stopping in the district. Despite strict action by police and excise, Mahua liquor sellers are not desisting from their activities. The limit is being reached when Mahua liquor manufacturing factory is also operating in the district. They are not at all afraid of the uniform. The second reason for this is that there is no provision of strict punishment for such people. If such people were given strict punishment then they could have been curbed to some extent. On Sunday, as per the instructions of Collector Akash Chhikara and under the special guidance of Assistant Commissioner Excise Praveen Verma, the Excise Department has taken swift action against illegal liquor manufacturing and storage in Janjgir district.
Excise Sub Inspector village Deori and Khorsi Sabaria Dera registered a case under Section 34-2 of the Excise Act after 160 bulk liters and 4400 kg destroyed Mahua Lahan was recovered from the banks of Mahanadi. The excise team has destroyed 60 bulk liters and 3200 kg of Mahua Lahan from the banks of Mahanadi and drain in village Deori Khorsi and Loharsi Sabaria Dera. A case was registered in the matter under Section 34-2 of the Excise Act. A crime under Section 34-1 was registered after 2 liters of Mahua liquor was recovered from the possession of Sunita, a resident of village Kharod. Due to the recovery of 30 bulk liters of Mahua liquor from the possession of village Belha resident Sandhya, a crime has been registered under section 34-2 and she has been sent to jail with judicial remand.
Excise sub-inspector Manoj Rathore, Ghanshyam head chief constable Netram Banjare, constables Ganesh Chelkar, Rajesh Pandey, Raghunath Paikra, staff Paras Kahra, Basanti, Lakshmi had important contribution in the joint action. Illegal liquor sellers consider river banks as more convenient places. Because now when there are police and excise raids, such people throw away their belongings in rivers and streams. At the same time, water from rivers and drains is also used for washing Mahua passes. 90 percent falls in such places. It is from here that the police and excise get great success. However, it is seen that in such places, when the smugglers see the police and excise team coming, they manage to escape. Due to which the accused are not caught.
