Cattle smuggling bid foiled in Arunachal Pradesh, three arrested

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh): The Capital Police foiled an alleged cattle smuggling attempt during a late-night checkpoint operation in Bath village, under the jurisdiction of the Chimpu police station. Three individuals were arrested in the operation.

According to police, the operation was carried out in the early morning hours of April 30th by a team from the Chimpu police station, accompanied by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. This joint operation was part of strengthening night-time patrolling and surveillance to curb criminal activity in the region.

According to information, police received intelligence that illegal cattle transportation might be taking place in the area surrounding Bath village. Based on this information, police and security forces set up a checkpoint in the area and launched an investigation.

As soon as suspicious activity was detected, police immediately responded and began checking vehicles and people. Three individuals suspected of being involved in cattle smuggling were detained.

Police stated that preliminary inquiries are being conducted with those arrested, and a detailed investigation is underway. Officials say efforts are underway to determine whether a larger network is behind this activity.

Regarding this operation, police stated that joint operations are regularly conducted to curb illegal cattle smuggling and other criminal activities in the region. This operation, carried out in collaboration with the CRPF, was part of a strategy aimed at strengthening law and order in border and rural areas.

According to the local administration, stricter enforcement has been recently imposed on such cases, and police have been instructed to take immediate action on suspicious activities. Increased nighttime patrolling is helping to prevent such incidents.

Police officials also stated that illegal cattle smuggling is not only a violation of the law but also impacts regional security and economic security. Therefore, curbing such activities is a priority.

Case(s) have been registered against the arrested accused under relevant sections, and further legal proceedings have been initiated. Police are also investigating who else may be involved in this smuggling.

Officials express confidence that such operations will be intensified in the future to fully control illegal activities.
