What’s more worrying is that his last two releases reportedly failed to even cross the ₹10 crore mark and are struggling to achieve good openings. With pressure on his market value, Varun Tej is now treading cautiously and reconsidering his upcoming choices.
He has already signed the Korean film Kanakaraju, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and backed by UV Creations. A recent preview video has received positive feedback, raising hopes for the actor’s comeback.
Interestingly, even before the film hits screens, Varun Tej is in talks for new projects. Industry buzz is that director Maruthi has approached him with a new commercial entertainer. After a somewhat underwhelming performance in the Prabhas-starrer “The Raja Saab,” Maruthi is reportedly keen to return to his specialty—light-hearted festival entertainers.
He has even registered the title “Happy Pongal” and is planning a film similar to celebratory entertainers like F2: Fun and Frustration, to capitalize on the holiday season.
However, Varun Tej is still weighing his options and has not yet officially signed on to the project. His next few decisions are likely to determine the direction of his career, so the coming months will be crucial for the young actor.
