Vietnam to record 12.6 million international tourist arrivals in 2023
New Delhi: Vietnam is set to record 12.6 million international visitor arrivals in 2023, 3.4 times more than 2022, according to the latest data released by the country’s General Statistics Office.
The office said the number far exceeded the target of 8 million foreign tourists set for the year, but was only 70 percent of pre-pandemic levels in 2019, Xinhua news agency reported.
Foreign tourists were mostly from Asia, which numbered 9.78 million, 3.8 times more than the previous year, followed by Europe at about 1.46 million, 2.9 times more, and the Americas at 903,800, 2.3 times more.
Nearly 11 million of foreign tourists visiting Vietnam in 2023 traveled by air, accounting for 86.9 percent of the total and representing an increase of 3.3 times year on year.
About 1.5 million people traveled by land and another 126,100 entered Vietnam via sea routes.
Revenue from accommodation and food services was projected to reach 673.5 trillion Vietnamese dong (US$27.7 billion) in 2023, accounting for 10.8 percent of the country’s total revenue from services and retail, an increase of 14.7 percent from the previous year. it shows.
