VIJAYAWADA: Consider increasing the pension issued by AP to Rs 3,000
Vijayawada: In line with the decision taken by the state cabinet, the government on Thursday issued a GO increasing the social security pension – YSR Pension Kanuka – from Rs 2,750 to Rs 3,000. The increase was included by YSRC chief and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Its election manifesto talks about increasing the social security pension from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 in a phased manner. After coming to power, he is increasing the pension by Rs 250 every year and the increased pension is being extended from January 1 every year. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department issued orders. Accordingly, under YSR Pension Kanuka, old age pensioners, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, fishermen, single women, traditional cobblers and ART patients will get enhanced pension from January 1, 2024 to December 2023. The government will have to bear an additional burden of Rs 139.21 crore every month due to increased pension. This works out to an additional Rs 556.87 crore for the current financial year (December 2023 to March 2024).
