Vijay’s Leo beats Leonardo DiCaprio’s Killers of the Flower Moon at the box office

Apart from wreaking havoc at the domestic box office, Thalapathy Vijay starrer Leo is also making an impact on the global front. The film, which released on the big screens on October 19, grossed more than any other major release last weekend.

Leo collects $48.5 million in its extended weekend
Leo was released the same weekend as Taylor Swift’s concert film Era and Martin Scorsese’s latest crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro, among others. However, its early release on Thursday helped the film gain a substantial lead over Hollywood titles. While the Vijay starrer collected $31 million from October 20 to 22, its collection in the extended 4-day weekend stood at $48.5 million. This is more than $4 million more than the $44 million earned by Killers of the Flower Moon.

Leo was released in the US by Pratyangira Cinema and grossed over $2.1 million in the extended weekend. In the UK and Ireland, it was released by Ahimsa Entertainment and grossed £1.07 million ($1.3 million) in its first three days of release.
