Village Secretary Panchayat suspended for arriving at election meeting after drinking alcohol

Jashpur: The addiction was such that one did not pay attention to the seriousness of the work. A similar incident happened in Jashpur, where Village Secretary Neelam Tirkey, who had reached the election meeting after drinking alcohol, has been suspended by District Panchayat CEO Sambit Mishra with immediate effect.

According to the information received from the District Panchayat, negligence was found in important work like election of Village Secretary and orders and instructions given from time to time by higher officials were ignored. This was found to be contrary to Rule 03 of Chhattisgarh Panchayat Service Conduct Rules, 1998 and Rule 3 and 4 of Chhattisgarh Gram Panchayat (Powers and Functions of Secretary) Rules, 1999. Village Secretary Neelam Tirkey has been suspended with immediate effect for negligence in serious work. During the suspension period, their headquarters was fixed as District Panchayat Office Manora. Also, during the suspension period, they will be eligible for subsistence allowance as per rules.
