Villagers allege that tribals who went to the weekly market were killed and called Naxalites.
Kanker. Tribal people have raised questions on the police claim of killing of two alleged Maoists in Kanker. The tribals allege that the alleged Maoists were caught by the police and killed in a fake encounter. Earlier on Saturday, the police had claimed that there was an encounter between security forces and Maoists in the forest adjacent to village Gome in Koylibeda area. Later, when the search operation was conducted, bodies of two men were recovered from the spot.
The police had also claimed to have recovered some weapons from the spot. The police had expressed apprehension about both the bodies that they could be members of the fifth company of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army of the Maoists. Now the relatives of the deceased have written a letter to the police station in-charge of Koylibeda and the SP of Kanker district, alleging that many tribals from Adnar of Abujhmad had gone to the Koylibeda weekly market on Friday.
While returning from there, as it was night, all the villagers stopped at the house of Punesh Mandavi of Gome village. The villagers have written in their letter that on Saturday morning at 6.30, all the villagers were going to their village Kaknar, at the same time the security forces separated the women and killed the tribals named Kana Vedta and Modaram Padda in a fake encounter. He was declared a Naxalite. The villagers have requested for an impartial investigation into the entire matter and registration of an FIR against the policemen involved in the matter.
