Visakhapatnam: Special Economic Zone records 30 percent growth in exports

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ) Regional Development Commissioner Srinivas Muppala said in a press release that the VSEZ has recorded exports worth Rs 1,04,278 crore during the period April-September 2023, registering a growth of 30 per cent. Srinivas Muppala informed that 11 new SEZ unit proposals and two export oriented unit proposals have been approved for setting up units in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh during the second quarter (July-September 2023). Five new SEZ units were approved in Andhra Pradesh and all the units will be set up with an investment of Rs 167 crore and will provide employment to 4,048 people, he said.
Services exports reached Rs 76,413 crore and goods exports reached Rs 28,315 crore. He said that compared to last year, services exports increased by 34 percent while goods exports increased by 21 percent. VSEZ attracted investment of Rs 1.04 crore in 2023 and provided employment to 6.61 lakh people.
