VMRDA inaugurates Rs 2.5 crore Trishul project in Kailashgiri

Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has unveiled a new landmark at Kailasagiri with the installation of a 65-ft trident under its ₹2.5 crore “Trishul Project”.

Kailasagiri, already known for its statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, will now feature the massive structure designed to be visible from multiple points across the city. The trident includes a damaru measuring 10 ft in height and 18 ft in width and has been engineered to withstand cyclones and strong winds.

To enhance its visual appeal, the installation is fitted with 110-watt LED lighting, allowing it to glow prominently at night.

Officials said the project reflects the city’s focus on strengthening tourism infrastructure and cultural identity. With steady tourist inflow, Visakhapatnam continues to expand its attractions, including the recently opened glass bridge and adventure facilities such as ropeway, sky cycling and zip-lining at Kailasagiri.

VMRDA officials said the trident is expected to emerge as a major tourist draw and a prominent cultural symbol for the city.
