Mumbai. Domestic markets fell in early trade on Friday amid weak cues in Asian markets. Later the business continued with ups and downs. The 30-share Sensex of BSE fell 342.74 points to 65,639.74. Nifty slipped 97.75 points to 19,667.45.
After this, trading remained volatile amid huge volatility in both the markets. Among Sensex companies, shares of Axis Bank, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank remained in loss. Shares of Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, Nestle, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors and Titan were among the major gainers.
In other Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi, China’s Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were in loss, while Japan’s Nikkei was in gain. US markets closed with mixed sentiment on Thursday.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.25 per cent higher at $77.61 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 957.25 crore on Thursday.
