Voting preparations in full swing in Salem, sending of EVMs started
Salem: As Salem gears up for elections, under the watchful eye of District Election Officer and District Collector R Brinda Devi, political party representatives have started their role as election agents.
The voter list released on January 22 for Salem district shows a substantial number of registered voters at 16,48,911. These include 8,23,336 male voters, 8,25,354 female voters and 221 others. A total of 3,257 polling stations will be set up at 1,249 polling stations.
Accredited political representatives have started necessary work within the ambit of the District Election Officer’s office. These include the deployment and verification of voting machines as well as repairing any malfunctioning units. Stringent measures like video recording are being adopted to ensure adherence to guidelines and duties.
This process is being done with full promptness under the leadership of District Election Officer and District Magistrate Brinda Devi. District Revenue Officer P Menaka, who is the returning officer of the district, is coordinating with key personnel to ensure seamless election conduct.
