Wanted To Kill Him For 20 Years Says Farooq Abdullahs Attacker

An assassination attempt was made on former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday. He was returning from a wedding function when a goon tried to shoot him from point blank range. But the security personnel immediately alerted him and pulled him aside, causing the bullet to miss the target. It is noteworthy that the goon revealed during the police investigation that he had been wanting to kill Farooq Abdullah for 20 years.
The police arrested the assailant at the scene and started investigation. He has been identified as 63-year-old Kamal Singh Jamwal, a resident of Purani Mandi area of Jammu. During the police investigation, the accused revealed that he had been trying to kill Farooq Abdullah for 20 years.
“I have been trying to kill Farooq Abdullah for 20 years. Now I have got that opportunity. But he did not die. He survived,” the accused told the police during the investigation. When asked why he wanted to kill him, he said that he had a personal reason. When asked who owned the pistol, he said that it was his.
Farooq Abdullah, who was attending a wedding on Wednesday, was returning from the venue along with Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Chief Minister’s Advisor Nazir Aslam Wani and other National Conference leaders when Kamal Singh attempted to assassinate him. Farooq Abdullah pointed a pistol at his neck. The alert security immediately pulled him away, but the bullet missed the target.
