West Bengal Assembly Elections Stone Pelting In Murshidabad State Logs 62 18 Turnout Till Now

Assembly elections are underway in West Bengal. Being a sensitive area, the elections are being held amidst heavy security. The elections will be held here in two phases. Elections are being held for 152 assembly seats in the first phase on Thursday. More than 62 percent polling was recorded by 1 pm. However, major clashes are taking place in many places in Bengal.

There were tense situations in many places. There were serious clashes in Murshidabad. TMC workers destroyed the car of leaders of the party AUJP. TMC workers and leaders of other parties pelted stones at each other. Also, many people were injured when natu bombs were thrown in the Nowda area. Due to this, central forces entered the scene and brought the situation under control. The Central Election Commission has ordered the DM/DEOs to submit a report on the clashes in Murshidabad. In some other places, EVMs did not work properly in polling booths. Due to this, the elections were stopped for a while in those places.

An elderly man died of a heart attack while waiting in a queue to cast his vote in Medinipur. On the other hand, TMC leaders have accused central forces of obstructing the voting process. BJP president Suvendu Adhikari is touring several polling stations in Bengal. These elections are mainly a contest between the TMC and BJP alliance. The second phase of the assembly elections will be held on 29th of this month. The results will be announced on May 4th.
