West Bengal News: Eight arrested in Malda
Malda police foiled a robbery attempt and arrested four members of a gang on Wednesday night.
Senior police agents said the gang appeared to have its base in the neighboring state of Bihar and had entered Malda to commit crimes.
Chanchal police cleared a mango orchard in Mayapur village and discovered a group of more than 10 people.
“When three or four of them escaped, we tried to keep track of them. “Of those arrested, one is from Bihar and one is from Dinajpur North district,” a police officer said.
At least four of the seven have criminal cases registered against them in Bengal and Bihar.
Mahananda River flows between Abadpur area and Chanchal de Malda near the interstate border in Bihar. “Criminals from Bihar usually cross the river and enter the area. There are closed-circuit television cameras there, but they managed to avoid them,” said a source.
On Thursday, a tribunal ordered eight people to remain in police custody for seven days.
maestro attack
A primary school professor was attacked by a man at the entrance of her school in Malda on Thursday.
As a result, she fell ill and is undergoing treatment in a private old age home in Old Malda.
Sources said that when he was about to enter the school facilities, the accused repeatedly hit a tree frame because she refused to talk to him. His left hand was fractured and he also sustained wounds on his right hand and head.
“The workers carrying lunch were rescued and their colleagues took them to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the accused died”, said a source.
Sources had earlier said that the man had proposed marriage. When she refused to talk to him, he fell asleep and scolded her.
“We will ask the police to take strict action against him,” said a family member of the professor.
