What is it…! Politician gifted dangerous rifle to his wife, created ruckus on social media

Kolkata: Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Riyazul Haque gifted an ‘AK-47 rifle’ to his wife on their first wedding anniversary. He is embroiled in controversies regarding this. Actually, Riazul shared a photo of his wife Sabina Yasmin on social media on Monday, in which she was seen holding an AK-47. On this, the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party and CPIM accused him of promoting Taliban rule. Riyazul Haq was criticized a lot, seeing that he deleted this post.

Actually, AK-47 rifles are mostly used during military and paramilitary operations. In such a situation, when people saw this weapon in the hands of the former TMC leader’s wife, they got angry. The question started being raised on social media that what is Riyazul’s motive behind this? Defending his move, Riazul said that his wife was holding a ‘toy gun’. This was not a real AK-47 rifle. He said, ‘We have not done anything illegal. My wife had a toy gun in her hand. The allegations against me are fake.

The former TMC leader is believed to be close to Deputy Speaker and Rampurhat MLA Ashish Bandyopadhyay. Seeing the growing controversy, he said that the post has been removed. This is because many people were questioning it. People thought it was a real gun, but it was not. According to the report, Riazul Haque was once the president of Rampurhat-1 block of Trinamool’s minority cell. However, he resigned from his post a few months back.

On the other hand, the BJP has demanded an inquiry into the matter. Birbhum’s BJP district president Dhrubo Saha said, “From where Riazul got this gun, it should be probed.” I have seen his Facebook post. He is a close aide of former TMC leader and deputy speaker of the state. What message does a post like this send? Is this not promoting Taliban rule? Are they trying to inspire the next generation to become jihadis?’ At the same time, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has also demanded immediate intervention of the state administration in this matter. Birbhum CPIM leader Sonjeeb Malik said, “The ruling party should immediately put a stop to such display of weapons in public forums.”
