What to do and what not to do in Diwali Puja

Diwali Puja: Diwali is the festival of lights. This is an important festival of Hindu religion. This year Diwali will be celebrated with great pomp across the country on 12th November i.e. Sunday. Mother Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are worshiped on this day. People worship them with rituals. It is believed that on this day Goddess Lakshmi is pleased with her devotees and Goddess Lakshmi arrives at their house. By worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on this day, there is always happiness and prosperity in the house. But some mistakes can have a negative impact on Diwali Puja. Know the rules of Diwali Puja:

Do’s and Don’ts in Diwali Puja:
Astrologers and Vastushastra say that worship on the day of Diwali has special significance. In such a situation, it is very important to clean the place of worship and the house. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi enters only where there is cleanliness. In such a situation, the house and the place of worship should be clean on the day of puja.

– At the place of worship, the idol of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha should face east and the worshiper should sit with his back towards north. Keep silver coins, lotus flowers etc. in the puja. This brings happiness, prosperity and good fortune to the house.

– Do not keep any old or junk items in the house on the day of Diwali. This is inauspicious. On Diwali, remove broken watches, broken bottles, mirrors, old clothes and other garbage from your house which you have not used for years.

– Do not do anything on the day of Diwali which may displease Goddess Lakshmi. Special care should also be taken about eating habits. Do not consume meat, fish, alcohol etc. even by mistake on the day of Diwali.

– Do not wear old or torn clothes even by mistake while performing puja on Diwali night. If you do, replace it immediately. Actually, torn clothes are considered a sign of poverty. Wearing old, torn clothes is inauspicious. Also keep in mind the colors during the puja, black clothes should not be worn on this night.

– Try to stay at home on Diwali. After puja, do not lock your house and go out. At the time of puja, illuminate the entire house with lights and lamps. There should not be darkness in any corner. Keep all the windows and doors of the house open so that Goddess Lakshmi can enter. Even if you have to close the house for some time and go to relatives or neighbors to wish Diwali, but keep the lights on in the house, do not make it dark. Do not switch off the lights even at night.

– Do not sleep late on Diwali, doing so is inauspicious. Cutting nails and shaving should also be avoided on this day. Do all this work a day in advance.

– For worship, the idol of Lord Ganesha should not be in a standing posture, but in a sitting posture. Also keep in mind that the joint should not be on the right side. Use red flowers in worship. Start Diwali puja by worshiping Lord Ganesha.

– While performing puja during Diwali, one should neither clap loudly nor sing aarti loudly. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi does not like much noise. She may get angry due to this. The worship of Goddess Lakshmi is considered incomplete without Lord Vishnu. In such a situation, do not worship him alone.

– Do not leave the place of worship empty or dark after the puja. Use enough oil and ghee in the lamp that the lamp remains burning throughout the night. Try to make the puja lamps a little bigger.
