White tigress Mousumi gives birth to 3 cubs in Nandankanan Zoo
Bhubaneswar: A white tigress called Mousumi gave birth to three cubs in Nandankanan Zoo of Bhubaneswar in the capital city of Odisha.
According to the official release, “Mousumi, the white tigress of Nandankanan gave birth to one cub yesterday night at 8.51 pm. Despite having three cubs in the litter, others were still born.”
The cub is being cared for by the mother, therefore it has not been separated from her. Both mother and cub are under constant CCTV surveillance. The sex of the cub can only be determined following a physical examination in future.
The white tigress, Mousumi was born at Nandankanan in 2016, to Tiger Manish and Tigress Sneha. Despite being eight years old, all her prior mating attempts failed to deliver offspring.
“This time, she mated with Tiger Rajesh to give birth to the present cub. This is her first cub,” the press release further said.
