Woman arrested for stealing jewelery from sister’s house
Srinagar, April 05: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have arrested a woman for stealing jewelery after she visited her sister’s house as a guest, officials said today.
“Ganderbal Police received a written complaint from a complainant Qaiser Ahmed Waza S/O Mohiuddin Waza r/o Tauheed Chowk Ganderbal stating that his sister-in-law had come to his house as a guest and had stolen the gold jewellery. were kept in the locker of his room,” read a police statement.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 64/2024 PS Ganderbal under relevant sections of law was registered and further investigation was initiated.
Taking immediate action on the instructions of SSP Ganderbal Sandeep Gupta (IPS), a special police team was formed under the supervision of GH. Hassan-JKPS HQ Ganderbal was led by SHO PS Ganderbal Inspector Manzoor Ahmed. After strenuous efforts and with the help of technical information, the police party caught the accused from Hari Singh High Street Srinagar.
During preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to the crime and admitted that he had stolen the gold ornaments and sold them for money. Further, upon his disclosure, cash amounting to Rs 1,85,500 (Rupees One Lakh Eighty-Five Thousand and Five Hundred Only) recovered from his possession and the scooter were seized on the spot.
The accused has been arrested and put behind bars.
