Woman doctor molested in flight, professor arrested
Mumbai (IANS). The Mumbai Police has arrested a professor from Patna who allegedly molested a female doctor on a Delhi-Mumbai Indigo flight.
The accused has been identified as 47-year-old Rohit Srivastava. The 24-year-old victim and the accused were seated next to each other on a flight that took off from New Delhi on Wednesday at around 5.30 am.
As per the victim’s complaint, sometime before the flight was about to land in Mumbai, the accused touched her with an inappropriate intention.
Expressing strong displeasure over this, a heated argument ensued between the doctor and the professor and the victim informed the flight crew.
After the flight landed, he was taken to the Sahar police station, where a complaint of sexual harassment was filed against the professor. The officer said that he was arrested by imposing relevant sections on the AAP.
The accused was produced before a court on Thursday which remanded him in judicial custody and later granted him bail while further investigation is on.
An IndiGo official said the airline is likely to issue a statement on the incident.
