Woman leader’s husband opened fire while performing Diwali puja, two injured
Bhopal: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ruchi Gupta had a narrow escape when her husband opened fire on her while performing Diwali puja in Gwalior on Sunday night.
At least two people were shot in the firing. The incident occurred when Ruchi Gupta was performing Diwali puja at a fitness and beauty center located in Gwalior City Center area and her husband Sandeep Thakur entered the center and opened fire on the group present there.
Ruchi Gupta had a narrow escape, however, two staff members were shot in their legs and were taken to a nearby hospital. After firing several rounds, Sandeep Thakur fled from the spot.
Ruchi Gupta and her husband have been involved in a marital dispute for a long time and they have been living separately for a few years. Ruchi Gupta, vice president of AAP’s Madhya Pradesh unit, had contested the mayor’s election from Gwalior last year. On receiving information about the firing, the local police has started investigating the matter.
