The state government’s streamlined paddy procurement system and its decision to pay ₹3,100 per quintal has brought a new wave of economic prosperity to farmers.
Meena Sahu, a female farmer who visited the Sakri paddy procurement center, explained that she owned 1.5 acres of agricultural land, and sold 70 sacks of paddy very smoothly and without any hassle. Praising the arrangements at the procurement center, Meena Sahu said that the adequate availability of gunny bags and the transparency in the weighing process greatly helped her in selling her produce. Furthermore, the government’s adequate arrangements for drinking water and shade at the centers for the convenience of farmers are also commendable.
She emphasized that the government’s purchase of paddy at a rate of Rs 3,100 per quintal is no less than a boon for small and marginal farmers. This fair price not only provides farmers with a fair price for their hard work, but also strengthens their families’ financial situation. Describing these state government policies as completely farmer-friendly, Meena Sahu expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. She said that with the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister’s determination, the state’s farmers are moving towards self-reliance.
