Banihal Ramban’s Sulai honey mentioned in the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’

Banihal, November 30: In his radio program, Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the Geographical Indication (GI) tags awarded to Sulai honey from Ramban district and Bhaderwah kidney beans from Jammu and Kashmir. He described it as a major achievement for the region, giving these traditional products national and international recognition.

The GI tag has significantly enhanced their brand value and opened up new export opportunities. Experts believe that this recognition will not only preserve the authenticity of these products but also boost the local economy.

With growing demand in the national and global markets, this development is expected to increase the income of local farmers and producers, contributing to the overall socio-economic growth of the region.

Sulai honey, along with Bhaderwah kidney beans, was officially granted the GI tag on August 30, 2023.
