Yasha Mudgal flags off team for Spl Paragliding Course in AP

To promote adventure tourism and empower the youth of the region, Directorate of Tourism Jammu under the guidance of Commissioner Secretary Yasha Mudgal has launched an unprecedented effort: Special Combined Paragliding Course.

Flagging off a group of 25 enthusiastic participants from the Railway Station Jammu, this pioneering initiative aims to harness local talent and elevate Jammu as a premier adventure tourism destination. Scheduled from March 12 to March 28, 2024, the 17-day training program will consist of three levels – Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced (P1, P2, and P3) levels, which will cater to the diverse skill sets of the participants.

The training will take place at the NIMAS training area at Seppa in Arunachal Pradesh, famous for adventure sports education. This course represents an important milestone in the tourism sector. Tourism Commissioner Secretary Yasha Mudgal flagged off the participants from Railway Station Jammu along with Additional Secretary Tourism Sachin Dev Singh, Joint Director Tourism Sunaina Sharma Mehta and other officials of the department. They highlighted the important role of adventure sports in enriching tourism. Insisted. landscape.

In his address, Mudgal emphasized the significant potential of Jammu as an adventure tourism hotspot, and the importance of taking advantage of this growing market. He appreciated the Directorate of Tourism Jammu for innovative initiatives like the special joint paragliding course, and noted their important role in leveraging the natural beauty and diverse landscapes of the region to attract adventure enthusiasts across the world.

The Joint Director highlighted the importance of nurturing local talent and underlined how this initiative will contribute to the overall development of Jammu region as a major adventure tourism destination.
During their interaction with the media, the participants expressed their gratitude to the Department of Tourism for this initiative and expressed hope for its transformative impact on adventure tourism, envisioning a future where Jammu becomes a destination for adventure seekers and adventurers. Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA) and Jammu Adventure Sports Association (JASA) has conducted a comprehensive hydrographic survey in all the districts of Jammu division.

These surveys have yielded valuable recommendations indicating specific locations for activities like paragliding at Atham, Dhanwa, Billo ki Pauri, Mokhari and water-based activities at various locations. Additionally, 38 new trekking routes have been identified, which will further enhance the adventure tourism offering in the region.
