Yellow alert of rain and snowfall in these districts of the state in the next 48 hours
Shimla. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy snowfall in Chamba, Kullu, Shimla, Mandi, Kangra and Lahaul and Spiti. The department has issued a yellow alert in these areas. Heavy snowfall is likely to affect roads, electricity and drinking water schemes.

Director of Meteorological Department, Dr. Surendra Pal said that active Western Disturbance is affecting North West India. An inducer has formed from this western disturbance. An inducer is formed over southwest Rajasthan and Pakistan.
Due to its effect, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall at most places in the state on 4th and 5th February. During this period, cold wave will also persist in the state. Heavy rainfall may also occur at many places. Due to this rain and snowfall, there will be disturbance in the essential services of the state like water, electricity, transportation, traffic etc. He said that the local administration will also have to remain alert for the next 72 hours. They have advised passengers not to travel during rain or snowfall.
