Young couple injured in LPG cylinder blast in Delhi
New Delhi (IANS). A 30-year-old woman suffered severe burns and her husband sustained injuries on his hand in an LPG cylinder blast in east Delhi’s Ghazipur village. An official gave this information on Thursday.
The victims have been identified as Sarita and her husband Harendra (40), residents of Ghazipur village.
The incident came to light when Harendra’s mother Sharda Devi received a phone call informing both of them to be admitted to LBS hospital after the LPG cylinder blast. The couple was referred to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment.
A senior police officer said, “Preliminary investigation has revealed that the blaze occurred as a result of LPG gas leakage at the couple’s house. Sarita had to bear the brunt of the explosion. Nearly 75 per cent of his body was badly burnt, while Harendra’s hand suffered minor burns to the extent of five per cent.
The officer said the couple was living in a rented house. Harendra earns a living by driving an auto, while Sarita is a homemaker.
