Young man’s condition critical after being shot by miscreants
Rourkela: In a shocking incident, a man identified as Irfan Raza (25) was shot dead by unidentified miscreants within Bisra police limits of Rourkela police district (RPD) in Sundergarh district. Raza, who was hit by a bullet in the chest, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Although the exact reason behind the attack is not yet known, personal enmity is believed to be the reason. Reports say Raza, who belongs to Bisra block headquarters, was alone at an isolated place around 8.30 am when two men allegedly opened fire on him.
Sources said that some anti-social youths of Nala Road, Rourkela had a fight with Raza in Bisra on Friday night. However, the victim’s mother Nusrat Jahan said that her son works as a poultry van driver and she has no knowledge of any enmity with him.
Zone 3 Deputy SP (DSP) AK Pradhan said the injured man said he could not see the faces of the attackers. He also said that he neither has any enmity with anyone nor does he have any criminal history. “The people who had a fight with the victim have been identified and will be interrogated for their possible involvement in the fatal attack,” the DSP said.
Meanwhile, crimes involving firearms have been on the rise in recent times.
