Youth dies in Central Jail, family accuses police

Ferozepur: A youth Sunil Kumar alias Sonu, lodged in Central Jail Ferozepur, died today under suspicious circumstances, whose body has been brought to Civil Hospital Ferozepur for post mortem. His wife and family have made serious allegations against the police regarding Sonu’s death and have demanded justice. The wife of the deceased youth alleged that about 3 days ago the police had picked up her husband while raiding Basti Bhattianwali and had beaten up her husband Sunil Kumar and Sonu and had registered a case against him under the NDPS Act, showing the recovery of 20 grams of heroin and had sent him to Ferozepur jail. According to the wife of the deceased, due to the beating by the police, her husband’s health deteriorated and he died today.

On the other hand, Ferozepur police has denied these allegations and said that before sending Sonu to jail, he was medically examined at Civil Hospital Ferozepur and he was absolutely fine at that time. On the other hand, a woman doctor posted on duty at Civil Hospital Ferozepur said that the post-mortem of the body will be done by police doctors and the cause of death will be known only after the report comes.
