Youth injured in fight dies

Phagwara. A young man, who was seriously injured in a fight between two parties over some mutual dispute some time ago in village Bohani of Phagwara, died today. The deceased has been identified as Rupanjot Singh resident of village Bohani.

After this, the family members of deceased Rupanjot Singh kept his body in front of Rawalpindi police station and staged a protest demanding justice from Phagwara police. Talking to journalists on this occasion, the father, brother and other relatives of the deceased said that they have been demanding justice for the last three months by requesting the police to take strict police action against the accused but the result has been zero.

Today Rupanjot Singh has died and they are keeping his dead body outside the police station Rawalpindi demanding justice from the police officers. Police officers know what this whole matter is and who the accused is. But police action is zero.

All the family members expressed their anger and said that they will not cremate the body of deceased Rupanjot Singh until the police takes strict action against all the accused and arrests them. Meanwhile, the police officer of Rawalpindi police station said that the police has arrested Sukhbir Singh, an accused in the case.

Police are conducting raids in search of other accused. In the police case registered which was earlier under Section 307, the police has now increased it to Section 302 and registered a case of murder. But contrary to this argument of the police, the people from the victim’s side said that the police has deliberately not taken any concrete police action related to the case in the last three months. Till the time of writing the news, the police has taken the body of deceased Rupanjot Singh in its custody and sent it to the civil hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Police investigation is ongoing.
