Youth murdered in Balasore hotel: Accused and his girlfriend arrested

Balasore: Police in Odisha’s Balasore district arrested two people on Monday for the murder of a 30-year-old man in a hotel, officials said.
Police identified the arrested men as Ram Chandra Singh (22) and his lover Jemamani Singh (27). “Ram Chandra and Jemamani strangled Akash Mohanta to death. They fled, leaving the body in the hotel room,” a police statement said.
Police said friends Akash and Ram Chandra left Badjambani village in Mayurbhanj district on December 25 and later picked up Jemamani from Betnati.
“The three checked into a hotel in Balasore city. Ram Chandra and Jemamani used fake Aadhaar cards for entry, while Akash’s Aadhaar was genuine. All three were married; Jemamani has two children and lives separately from her husband in Jajpur,” police added.
Investigations revealed that both Akash and Ram Chandra had consumed alcohol at the hotel on Christmas night. However, a quarrel broke out after Akash asked Jemamani for sexual favors, which she resisted. Police said this led to a fight, after which both Ram Chandra and Jemamani allegedly strangled Akash to death.
Balasore city DSP Nirmala Gochayat said that Ram Chandra and Jemamani were arrested from Mayurbhanj and Jajpur soon after they left the hotel.
