10 lakh cash found in duster car, investigation continues regarding suspicious amount

Raigarh. The administration and police in the district are on alert for continuous monitoring of election expenditure and adherence to the Model Code of Conduct. The officers and employees engaged in the election work of Collector Karthikeya Goyal and SSP Sadanand Kumar have been instructed to take strict action if anyone is negligent in their work.

There is constant surveillance by police and flying squads at all check posts/barriers and in the city. In the same sequence, yesterday night of 19/10/2023, the police team engaged in checking of vehicles by ASI Rajendra Patel, Narendra Sidar and constable Vikas Singh at Chhatamuda Chowk under the leadership of Jutmil police station in-charge Inspector Ramkinkar Yadav,

found a blue color Duster car OD 14 T. In case 5987, Rs 10 lakh cash was found inside the bag. The police team arrested late Santosh Gahir’s father present in the vehicle. Upendra Gahir, age 40 years, Mahadevpara, Sundergarh Town District, Sundergarh, Odisha Hall,

Gajanandapuram Colony, Chakradharnagar, was told to violate the rules of the effective code of conduct by interrogating him regarding the cash kept in the bag and was given a notice demanding valid documents in which Santosh Gahir failed.

Considering the money recovered from the car as suspicious, the police duly confiscated it and informed the election office and are taking further action. To get the seized amount released, the real owner of the amount will have to present the relevant documents before the High Committee constituted by the District Election Officer in Room No. 21 of the Collectorate, which will be resolved by the committee.
