A player who keeps running and playing even after retirement

Sports Sports: Japan’s Kazuyoshi Miura (58) is set to become the world’s oldest professional footballer.

Miura, who will turn 59 in February, has signed to play for Japan’s third-division football team, Fukushima United.

He is currently with Yokohama FC and will play for Fukushima on loan.

Miura made his debut for Brazilian club Santos FC in 1986 and has since played for clubs in Italy, Croatia, Australia, and Portugal.

Miura was a star for the Japanese national football team in the 1990s, scoring 55 goals in 89 appearances.

The world’s oldest footballer was former England player Stanley Matthews, who played until he was 50 (1965). Miura, who broke that record in 2017, is still playing at the age of 58. He was born in February 1967.
