12 killed in road accident in Ukraine

Kyiv (IANS). 12 people died in a road accident in Ukraine. The police gave this information on Wednesday.

The accident happened on Tuesday evening at around 7:28 pm. A passenger car carrying 12 people collided with a truck on a road near the village of Brodetske on Tuesday, Xinhua news agency reported.

All the passengers of the vehicle including six children in the age group of 2 years to 12 years died on the spot.

Police are probing the accident and have detained the 42-year-old truck driver. He may face criminal charges for violating traffic safety rules.

According to the national police, 1,314 people were killed in traffic accidents on Ukraine’s roads in the first half of this year, and 12,755 were injured.
