13 unidentified bodies found in Manipur
Imphal: Security forces on Monday recovered bodies of 13 unidentified persons from Lithithu village in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district, bordering Myanmar. Sources said security forces reached the village nestled in the forest after heavy firing between rival groups in the area dominated by the Kuki tribal community, where the bodies were recovered. The dead bodies have not been identified yet.
Another source said the bodies were of cadres of a militant organisation. The firing took place when the militants were on their way to Myanmar. No arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot. Senior officials of the police and central forces are investigating the incident and the recovery of the bodies. Manipur has a 400 km long unfenced border with Myanmar. However, police, defense and other security officials neither denied nor confirmed the incident. Various media outlets reported the recovery of 13 bodies.
