15 criminals including two women arrested in express train robbery case
Ranchi: Police of Latehar district of Jharkhand have arrested 15 criminals in connection with the gruesome robbery that took place about four months ago in Sambalpur-Ranchi-Jammu Tawi Express (train number 18309). Two women are also among the arrested criminals. Apart from six weapons, 20 cartridges, 20 mobiles, 8 bikes, 2 Boleros, Rs 49,000 cash and huge amount of jewelery were recovered from them.
Latehar SP Anjani Anjan said that apart from train robbery, these criminals have carried out many incidents of road robbery in different areas of Latehar and Palamu. The arrested criminals are being interrogated.
It is noteworthy that on the night of 23rd September, criminals had committed a massive robbery with the force of arms in the Sambalpur-Ranchi-Jammu Tawi Express between Latehar and Barwadih station. During this time the criminals also shot two passengers. Both the seriously injured passengers were treated at the Medical College Hospital in Palamu.
During this time the criminals had fired about 10 rounds and got down by pulling the chain before Barwadih station. Jewellery, mobile phones and many other valuables were looted from the passengers along with money worth lakhs. According to Latehar Police, after receiving information about the movement of suspicious people in the area on Wednesday evening, a special team was formed and action was taken. After this, raids were conducted in various areas of Latehar, Palamu and Lohardaga districts and 15 people were arrested. All these people are associated with the same gang.
