2 crore 10 lakh cash seized, 17 miscreants transferred to district to conduct fair elections
Raigarh: On the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, preparations for the District Police Code of Conduct were made in advance to conduct the Assembly Elections 2023 in a fair and fear-free environment in the district and with the implementation of the Code of Conduct, the proceedings have increased further. A comparison of the action taken by the district police in the last 10 months and the action taken in the 24 days of the code of conduct implemented from October 09 shows that the administration and the police are very serious about clear elections. During the code of conduct in the district, property worth Rs 2 crore 10 lakh 52 thousand 960 has been seized so far by SST/FST and the district police while monitoring illegal liquor, suspicious money and election affected materials. In view of the elections, the police took preventive action against 943 persons in the last 24 days, in which 473 persons were bound over so that they could not disturb the peace further. During this period, 686 absconding warrantees have been arrested by the police and sent to jail.
According to the comparative data of action taken in last 10 months and 24 days of code of conduct, restrictive action has been taken against 9252 persons by District Police Raigarh in last 10 months. In the 24 days following the code of conduct, restrictive action was taken against 943 persons in the district. On the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Sadanand Kumar, a report has been sent to the District Magistrate regarding the transfer of 17 persons to the district and 18 new criminals have been added to the goonda list in various police stations.
As soon as the code of conduct was imposed, all the licensed weapons were deposited in the police station except the security of the bank/treasury under the police station area. In the last 10 months, cases of illicit liquor were registered against 2172 persons in which 7,655 liters of illicit liquor was seized. During the code of conduct, cases of illegal liquor have been made against 253 persons in various police station areas in which 1536 liters of liquor has been seized and 08 persons have been arrested in 6 cases of ganja and intoxicating tablets.
In the last 10 months, 5256 warrantees were arrested in the district, while during the conduct of code of conduct, 686 absconding warrantees were caught by the police. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, action was taken against 41,511 persons in the last 10 months under the Motor Vehicle Act. In the last 24 days, action has been taken against 6,762 persons under the Motor Vehicle Act. During the code of conduct, FST and police team have seized Rs 84 lakh 25 thousand 420 in cash and election affected materials (sarees, electronic goods etc.) worth Rs 1 crore 14 lakh. In this way, Raigarh Police is continuing its vigorous action on the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar towards crime control and fair elections.
