21 thousand weapons deposited for elections in Morena
Madhya Pradesh: A huge quantity of weapons have been deposited in Morena for the elections. Official sources said on Wednesday that more than 21,000 out of 28,000 arms license holders have deposited their guns at various police stations in Morena. Although the residents of Morena love their guns the most, they had to deposit their weapons at the police station due to the Model Code of Conduct.
People have been asked to deposit their weapons at the police station to maintain peace and harmony during the upcoming elections.
There are many families who own more than one gun. Hence, they can be seen standing outside police stations to deposit their guns.
According to police officer Pankaj Upadhyay, members of a family had come to the police station with more than a dozen revolvers and the same number of guns. Since the family runs a business, they keep weapons for their own protection.
Another person Ramveer Sharma brought his gun wrapped in a cloth.
The district police made arrangements for water and seating for the people who came to deposit weapons. The last date to submit weapons is October 19.
There are more than 28 thousand arms license holders in Morena. Additional Superintendent of Police Arvind Thakur said that all the weapons will be deposited on time. He said that those who do not surrender their weapons will have to face legal action.
