3.5 kg gold worth more than Rs 2.2 crore seized from auto-rickshaw
Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): After the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, Jabalpur Police seized 3.5 kg of gold jewelery during a routine security check in Gadha on Sunday night.
According to the information, Garha police received information from the informer that a person has come from Indore to Jabalpur with a large quantity of gold jewelery in an auto rickshaw and he is going to deliver it to different districts of the state.
Acting on the information, the police team spotted and stopped the auto rickshaw mentioned by the informer at Gadha check post and checked all the belongings of the person. Upon investigation the police found a huge quantity of gold jewellery.
When the police asked for the receipts of those jewellery, the accused was unable to show them.
The accused is a resident of Indore
After this, Garha police informed senior police officers, District Election Officer and Income Tax Department about the matter. The team of Election Department and Income Tax Department reached the spot and interrogated the youth.
Giving information, City Superintendent of Police Gadha DP Singh Chauhan said that the youth caught is a resident of Annapurna Nagar of Indore. His name is Saurabh Jain and he is 38 years old.
3.5 kg gold jewelery worth Rs 2.25 crore has been seized. Police said that in view of the assembly elections, they are investigating the entire matter seriously.
