3 chain snatchers arrested in Raipur

Raipur: Three chain snatchers have been arrested in Raipur. According to the police, Renu Vaishnav lodged a report in the police station Purani Basti that she lives near Yadavpara Indra Chowk in Kushalpur Purani Basti. On 13.10.2023, the applicant was going from home to Jai Stambh Chowk in her Activa vehicle with her daughter when at around 05:10 in the evening, near Kushalpur Danteshwari Temple, due to the petrol of the Activa vehicle running out, both the applicant and her daughter were going on foot in the opposite direction. According to the report of the applicant, two unidentified persons traveling in a white Activa vehicle coming from Disha Pankaj Garden, with their faces tied with scarf, one of whom was sitting behind, looted the gold chain worn around the neck of the applicant and both the persons ran away. But crime number 422/23 section 392, 34 Bhadvi has been registered against both unknown persons in Police Station Purani Basti. The crime of was registered.

Taking the chain snatching incident seriously, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police West Jaiprakash Carpenter, Additional Superintendent of Police Crime Pitamber Singh Patel, City Superintendent of Police Purani Basti Rajesh Chaudhary, Deputy Superintendent of Police Crime Dinesh Sinha, Incharge Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and Police station in-charge Purani Basti Raipur was directed to trace and arrest the unknown accused as soon as possible. On which, under the direction of senior officers, the joint team of Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and Purani Basti police station started to trace the unknown accused by making detailed inquiries of the nearby people including the applicant regarding the incident and the bodies and vehicles of the accused. The team members inspected the incident site and CCTV cameras installed in and around the incident site. Along with observing the camera footage, an informer was also appointed in the case. Efforts were also being made by the team members to identify the unknown accused by ascertaining the vehicle used by the unknown accused in the incident. Meanwhile, the team members received important information regarding Ankit Soni, resident of Sunder Nagar, D.D. Nagar, who was involved in the incident, on which the team members tracked down Ankit Soni and interrogated him regarding the incident. He was continuously misleading the team members by claiming that he had no involvement in the crime, but when strictly interrogated on the basis of the evidence obtained, he could not stand up to his lies and ultimately he along with his partner Pradeep Malik alias Rahul. Together they agreed to carry out the above mentioned incident of robbery. On which the team members traced the accused Pradeep Malik alias Rahul and he was also caught. Accused Ankit Soni alias Mickey and Pradeep Malik alias Rahul were arrested and action was taken by seizing 01 piece gold chain and Honda Activa serial number CG/04/DP/9313 Jumla valued at around Rs 90,000/- used in the incident. .

During interrogation, accused Pradeep Malik alias Rahul told that he along with his other associate Syed Asif Ali alias Ashu had taken the Honda Activa number CG/04/DP/9313 used in the incident to Pachpedhi under New Rajendra Nagar area police station on 13.10.2023. The theft was done from outside Colors Mall located near Naka and in the same stolen vehicle, Pradeep Malik alias Rahul and Ankit Soni alias Mickey had carried out the above incident of chain snatching. Crime number 360/23 section 379 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused Pradeep Malik alias Rahul and Syed Asif Ali alias Ashu in the said vehicle of theft in the police station New Rajendra Nagar. The crime of is registered. Syed Asif Ali alias Ashu, the accused involved in vehicle theft, has also been arrested. The accused Pradeep Malik alias Rahul is of criminal nature and has been detained in jail in the past in half a dozen cases of mobile robbery and theft from Police Station Ganj, Saraswati Nagar, Azad Chowk, Kotwali and New Rajendra Nagar.

2. Syed Asif Ali alias Ashu, father of Syed Siraj Ali, age 30 years, resident of Nayapara Masjid, police station Golbazar Raipur.
