3 elephants died due to lightning, VIDEO

Guwahati. Three elephants died of electrocution in Assam on Friday. Local officials gave this information. The incident took place at Rani Tea Garden, located about 20 km from Guwahati. Rohini Ballave Saikia, Divisional Forest Officer, Kamrup East Division, told IANS, “A female elephant and two cubs came in contact with the high voltage power line while trying to fell a tree and unfortunately died.” According to Saikia, the incident took place between 3.30 am and 4 am on Friday. “We will conduct the post-mortem of the three elephants and later cremate them as per procedure,” the official said. Wild elephants often come out of the forest in search of food. Man-animal conflict has been on the rise in Assam during the last few years and many people have lost their lives due to it.
