3 killed in building collapse in Jamnagar
Jamnagar | Three people, including a woman and a four-year-old child, were killed when a three-storey residential building collapsed in Gujarat’s Jamnagar city on Friday evening. The officers provided this information.
Locals claimed that the building, which was about 30 years old and dilapidated in Sadhna Colony, was constructed by the Gujarat Housing Board. Dr Deepak Tiwari, medical superintendent of Guru Gobind Singh Government Hospital, said three of the eight people, who were rescued by local people and fire brigade personnel, succumbed to their injuries, while the others are undergoing treatment.
According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Jaipal Swadia (35), Mittal Swadia (35) and Shivraj (4). Dr. Tiwari said that two men and three women are among the injured.
Local residents claimed that eight to ten people could be trapped under the debris prompting the administration to launch a search and rescue operation. Corporation Commissioner DN Modi, senior officials of the Municipal Corporation and local MLA Divyesh Akbari reached the spot. Abkari said, “There are 12 flats in each block of this colony. It was built 30 to 35 years ago. Half of the building collapsed at 6 pm.
